  • ObituaryText: Funeral services were held in Dodge Center Sunday for Julius C. Howe, many years ago a resident of this place, but of late years of Minneapolis. Julius C. Howe was born in Waldenberg, Neumark, Germany on June 25th, 1844 and died at the home of his daughter in Minneapolis after a month's illness on July 10th, 1924. He was 80 years and 15 days old. In 1869 he was married to Wilhelmina Zuehlke in Germany and with their children they came to American in 1887. They settled at Dodge Center, living here until 1898 when they moved to North Dakota. There they resided until 1913 when he and his wife moved to Minneapolis, where they have since lived. Mr. Howe leaves to mourn his aged widow and six children, Emil of Wabasso; Paul and Carl A of Dodge Center; Julius of GrandView, Wis; Wilhelm of Stacy and Augusta of Minneapolis. He had 26 grand children and 8 great grandchildren. The remains were brought to Dodge Center Sunday and services were held in the Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Rumsch of Minneapolis, the pastor who helped to institute the Lutheran church here. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery. The church was crowded with relatives and friends of the deceased which shows the respect and esteem in which he was held by those who knew him. We wish to thank those who assisted us at the time of the burial of our father, to the congregation for the use of the church, the choir for their music and Rev. Rumsch for his service and for the sympathy of our friends. His children.3

  • ObituaryText*: Paul R. Howe passed away at his home Tuesday evening August 31st following a short illness. Mr. Howe was born in Dyck, Krus. Dt. Krone, Westpeussen, Germany on January 26, 1872. He came to America in June 1885. On January 11, 1893 he was united in marriage to Kate Falck at Westfield Center near Blooming Prairie. To this union were born seven sons, three of whom, Carl, Ray, and Ross together with his wife, preceded him in death. On November 27, 1938, he was married to Mrs. Anna Churchward at Grand Meadow, who is left to mourn his passing. Also surviving are four sons, Manley of Alexandria, Irvin of Hayfield, Robert of St. Cloud and Richar of Burlington, Washington. Mr. Howe was in business in Dodge Center 59 years having retired 2 years ago when he sold his grocery store to Lester Gripp. Besides the immediate family, Mr. Howe is survived by two brothers, Julius Howe of Grandview, Wisconsin, and Carl Howe of Dodge Center. Funeral services will be at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church with Rev. Robert E. Burress officiating. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.3

  • ObituaryText: Carl Albert Howe, 85, died Friday in St. Mary's Hospital at Rochester where he had been a patient for several weeks. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Congregational church with the Rev William Robertson officiating. Mrs. Virgil Salisbury was organist and accompanied the singers, Mrs. Richard Osborn Sr and Richard Smith. Pallbearers were Ewald Fritz, Hilton Schuster, William Bielberg, Howard Davis, Harley Linder and Warner Nelson. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. The Corey Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Howe was born in Germany april 28, 1879 and came to the United States at the age of seven years. He married Murn Ann Patterson Dec. 24 1902 at Claremont and they spent most of their lives in and near Dodge Center. Mrs. Howe died in 1957. He is survived by two sons, Lloyd of Stewartville and George of Corinth, Miss; two daughters, Mrs. Revere Dewar (Frances) and Mrs. Genevieve Knudson, both of Dodge Center; nine grand children and 18 great-grandchildren.2

  • ObituaryText*: Many hearts were saddened and many were the expressions of grief when it was learned Monday that the Grim Reaper had called and taken away Dr. H.E. Harmon on Sunday night at 9:30, after an illness of less than a week with pneumonia. Horace E. Harmon was born at Faribault, Minn., July 27, 1873, being 39 years, 5 months and 29 days old at the time of his death. In 18? he moved with his parents to South Dakota. He graduated from the Brookings College in 1893. After four years of study of medicine at the University of Minnesota, he practiced medicine at Bryant, S.D. for one year. After a year in Minneapolis hospital he came to jeffers in December 1900. He practiced here about six months when he entered the medical college at Iowa City, receiving his diploma from there. He returned here and has since made Jeffers his home until heath. In October 1902 he was married to Miss Cora B. Potter, to which union one child was born. Lyle Harmon. On April 23, 1908 Mrs. Harmon passed away and on march 24, 1912 Death again called at the home and took away the little son, Lyle.On December 27th, 1910 he was marrid to Miss Erna Luck. One Child, Victor Edwin was born to them. He died Sept. 10 1912 at the age of nine months. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his departure a father and mother Mr. and Mrs. T. Harmon of DeSmet, S.D. two brothers Lyle who lives with his parents and Tim of Sherburn, Minn. and two sisters at Dickinson, S.D. Mrs. Michael Kelly and mrs. Kittie Sturgeon. All but the two latter were present at the funeral.1
