- ObituaryText: William Julius Prosch, pioneer of Prairieville township answered the final summons at about ten o'clock last Tuesday evening at his home northwest of Sleepy Eye, death resulting from internal complications which extended over a period of about five years. Mr. Prosch became an invalid four years ago and had been bedfast most of the time during those years. Mr. Prosch came to Minnesota in 1870 and settled on a farm in Home township. He was a man who was honest and upright in all of his transactions. During his lifetime he held many offices of trust and responsibility and was a prominent resident of his community. He joined the Evangelical church in Sleepy Eye when a young man and always took an active interest in the welfare of the church. William Julius Prosch was born July 5, 1863 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. March 23, 1892 he was joined in marriage to Miss Bertha Kissner who preceded him in death in June this year. They were he parents of three sons and one daughter, Reuben, Elmer, Wesley and Florence, all of whom survive. There are also five brothers and two sisters, namely: John of Aitkin; Gust of Arribo, Colo; Charles of Milwaukee, Oregon; Henery and Albert of Nicollet; Mrs. Herman Kissner and Mrs Giust Bruess of this community. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at 2:00 at the Evangelical church, Rev. R.R. Werner officating.2,4

She is survived by son Floyd of Sleepy Eye; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Alice Mae) Fischer of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Greenberg of Litchfield; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one brother Reuben Prosch of Aitkin. She was born Aug. 11, 1897 in Prairieville Township, Brown County to William and Bertha Prosch. She married A.J. Johnson in Prairieville Township on June 4, 1917. He preceded her in death in 1958. They farmed in Prairieville Township. She has been a resident Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan for the past year and a half.2

He attended rural school and joined the U.S. Army in 1945, serving in the Philippine Islands during World War II. Following his discharge in 1946, Gerald returned to farming. On January 21, 1950 Gerald was united in marriage to Wahneeta Graff in Wright, Minnesota. Following their marriage he also worked for L and S Construction for 12 years as he farmed. He had been a lifetime member of Red Rock United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In 1993, Gerald became a resident of the Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls. It was here that he died on Friday, December 15, 2000 at 74 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents: and a sister, Marian Dammann. He is survived by his wife Wahneeta of Sanborn; sons Larry and wife Thelma Karow of Gillette, Wyoming, and Jerry and wife Denise Karow of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina; five grandchildren, David Ashton, Chelsey Dylan, and Dalton Karow; sister, Elaine Ryan of Springfield: brother Dennis and wife Linda Karow of New Prague, Minnesota; nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Arrangements were with the Sturm Funeral home in Springfield, Minnesota.1
