  • ObituaryText: Mrs. Marion J. Juhnke, 83, a homemaker and life long Kasson resident, died Thursday at Rochester Methodist Hospital following a six month illness. The former Marion J. Tollefson was born Jan. 5, 1901, in Kasson and on Feb 21, 1924, married Rollins Juhnke of Kasson. The couple made their home in Kasson, where he owned and operated the Kasson Drug store until retiring. Mrs. Juhnke was a past matron of the Evaline Chapter of the Eastern Star Lodge of Kasson. Survivors include her husband; a son, Rollins J. of Kasson; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Bradley of Chicago. A brother preceded her in death. The funeral is 1 pm Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kasson, with the Rev. Curtis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson. There is no reviewal of visitation. Dibble Funeral Home is Kasson is in charge of arrangements. on 10 August 1984.1

  • ObituaryText: Sarah Ann Brown was born in Brookfield, N.Y., December 5, 1835 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.M. Holston, in Dodge Center, Minn., October 27, 1927, aged nearly 92. When a small child she with her parents moved to Allegany County, N.Y. She grew to womanhood at Nile, where she was baptized and joined the Frienship Seventh Day Baptist Church. She came of the old Seventh Day Baptist stock, being a great granddaughter of Elder Abram Coon, one of the very early pastors of the second Seventh Day Baptist church in America. She was married to William Henry Wells, Sept. 6, 1857 , at Nile where they made their home until 1887, when the family moved to Dodge Center, Minn. They resided on a farm north of the village until after the death of Mr. Wells in 1899. For the past twenty years Mrs. Wells had made her home in the vollage of Dodge Center with her daughter Anna who has been untiring in the tender care of her mother in her declining years. She was a faithful member of the Dodge Center S.D.B. church took her part in its activities and was very regular in attendance as long as she was able. She was also interested in other community organizations. Her husband was a veteran of the Civil War and she was a charter member of the local corp of the W.R.C. and the last of the charter members to pass away. She served as Chaplain of this organization for many years and was given the honorary title to this office for life. Mrs. Wells was the mother of six children, two of whom died in infancy. Her youngest son, K. Robert, died in 1921. The children who survive are William H. Wells, Charleston, S. Carolina, Floyd B. Wells, Utica, N.Y. and Mrs. Anna L. Holston, Dodge Center Minn. Besides these she leaves four grand children and three great grand children. Funeral services were held from her late home on Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. E.H. Socwell assisted by Rev. C.E. Mead and were attended by a large concourse of neighbors and friends and the wearied body was laid to rest in our beutiful Riverside cemetery. "Asleep in Jesus, far from thee Thy kindred and their graves may be But thine is still a blessed sleep From which thou wilt never wakde to weep." Mr and Mrs John Hinman, Mrs. Zalia Wells, and Roberta of Milton, Wis; Mrs. Marie Rank and daughter Avis of Houston; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Witter of Albert Lea; Mrs. H.M. Crofoot and daughter Mrs. Cadwell of Rochester; W.h. Vinton and dauaghter Julia of Owatonna, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Burdick of Minneapolis; were among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Sarah Wells last Sunday. Card of Thanks. To those who during our late bereavement, so kindly expressed their sympathy in deeds of helpfulness, gifts of flowers, and in many other ways; we desire to express our heartfelt thanks.   • ObituaryText: Mrs. U.S. Langworthy, 86, was suddenly stricken ill Monday morning, June 27 and was taken to the Owatonna hospital where she died shortly after her arrival. Irene Charlotte Langford, daughter of Isaac C. and Amelia Langford, was born Feb 22, 1869 in Wasioja Township, Dodge County. "Lottie" as she was called by her friends, graduated from the Dodge Center high school in 1888. On October 29, 1890 she was united in marriage with Ulysses S. Langworthy who preceded her in death April 13, 1936. Following the death of her husband, she made her home with her sister-in-law, Miss Edna Langworthy at Dodge Center, until 1952 and lived with the J. Anton Johnson family of Dodge Center for the past two years. After joining the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Dodge Center on December 13, 1890, she served the church able in many capactities. For many years she served as an acting Deconess as well as being clerk of the church Sabbath school superintendent and teacher, president of the Ladies Benevolent Society and moderator of the church. She was an active and loyal supporter of her church up to the time of her passing. As one of the founders of the Ashland Community Club she contributed to the welfare of the community in which she lived as she did also in drawing up the "History of the Dodge Center All-School association". Surviving are her children: Mrs. Marlowe Swenson, (Mildred) of Mason City, Iowa; John of Battle Creek, Mich; Mrs. Marvin Lindahl (Charlotte) of Dodge Center, and twin daughters, Mrs. Walter Kramer (Edith) of Hayfield and Mrs. Chester Bartel (Ethel) of Kasson. Also, two brothers, Roy Langford of Minneapolis, and Carl Langford of California; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Nelson of California; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robert Wills, formerly Gerogia Ellis of Marquette, Mich., shared the home and motherhood of Mrs. Langworthy during Mrs. Wills childhood and youth. She was preceded in death by one son, Myron, in 1947 at Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Dodge Center Sefenth Day Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Van Horn officiating. Interment was in Riverside cemetery at Dodge Center. Pall Bearers were Harry Bird, Donald Payne, A.D. Payne, Mack Greene, Walter Churchward and Walter Cocker. The Buckman Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. after 27 June 1955.1
