  • ObituaryText: KOCH.—Daniel Koch was born near Fleetwood, Pa., Oct. 28, 1831, and died August. 26, 1903. He married Miss Favilla* Kramm, March 17, 1857. Bro. Koch was converted at seventeen years of age and joined the German Reformed church. Later he united with our church. He was an earnest and faithful Christian, always found at the services of the church and a wise and helpful leader. He leaves a wife and five children—David Koch of Ida Grove, Iowa; Mrs. Etta Lettlemyer** of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. J. K. Crawford of Miles, Iowa; J. E. Koch of Livingston, Mont., and Mrs. R. W. Chambers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bro. Koch went to Iowa in 1854, where he remained three years. He returned to Pennsylvania and brought with him his father and mother and his bride to make their home in the then new West. Bro. Koch left Miles, Iowa, on Aug. 10, 1903, with a party of others, to tour the Pacific states. They arrived in California on the 17th. While at Los Angeles, Cal., he took a deep-seated cold. They pushed on, however, arriving at Oakland, Cal., on the 25th, when it was found to be necessary to stop for medical aid. On consulting a physician they were informed that his disease had developed into pneumonia, which caused his death. Bro. Koch was found on the side of right, was one of the most prominent men of the community and will be missed by all.
