  • ObituaryText: Harriet Marie Jensen, age 75, of rural Dodge Center, passed away Friday, July 11, 1986 at Rochester Methodist Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 2 1/2 days. The former Harriet Marie Gripp, she was born May 14, 1911 at Dodge Center, the daughter of Henry and Mary Gerths Gripp. She was raised at Dodge Center and graduated from the Dodge Center high school in 1918. She then attended Winona Business College, graduating in 1930, when she then went to work first for the Dodge Center Creamery and later for the A.S.C.S. office as a secretary. She was united in marriage to Walter N .Jensen on Dec. 2, 1933 at Stanley, Wis., and to this union was born a daughter. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Wasioja Township all their married life. Harriet was a member of the Oakwood Club and the Acorn Club both of Wasioja Township. She was a past county chairman of the March of Dimes and a past member of the rural Dodge Center School Board. Survivors include her husband, Walter; one daughter, Mrs. Byron (Janet) Jackson of Washington D.C; a granddaughter Sarah Jackson of Washington D.C; a brother Leonard Gripp of Grass Valley, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Howard (Esther) Lane of Livermore, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and one beother. Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, 1986 at the Congregational United Church of Christ of Dodge Center with the Pastor Joseph Schulte officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery. Organist was Gladys Salisbury and the congregation sang "Morning has broken" and "Blessed be the tie that binds." Pallbearers were Charles Krohn, Claude Stafford, Larry Scherger, David Hubmer, Richard Osborn Sr, and Earl Gerths. After the service a lunch was served in the church fellowship hall by the ladies of the Congregational Church. Funeral arrangements were by the Gust Funeral Home of Dodge Center. after 11 July 1986 at Dodge Center, Dodge County, MN, USAG.4
