  • ObituaryText: Mrs. August Greise died at the home of her son in Germantown, and the funeral was held at the Evangelical Church in Germantown, Tuesday, the sermon being preached by Rev. Mechel. The deceased was 72 years of age and leaves three children to mourn her death.2

  • ObituaryText: Gustav Martin Quade, 91, Pipestone, died Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Pipestone County Medical Center. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 21 at St. Paul Lutheran church with Rev. Mark Nordman officiating. Music was provided by Roger Quade, soloist and Bonnie Folkerts, organist. Pallbearers were laurence Quade, Raymond Quade, August Quade, Orville Steve, Norman Conrad and Wallace Rand. Interment was in the New Woodlawn Cemetery, Pipestone. Gustav Quade was born on Feb. 12, 1897 to August and Pauline (Conrad) Quade in Storden Township, Cottonwood County, rural Jeffers. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was raised and received his schooling while living on the family farm; Gus farmed for about 29 years in the Beardsley area. He returned to the Jeffers area and on June 5, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mathilda Meyer Smith in Jeffers. They moved to Pipestone in 1956 and Mathilda died in October of 1982. He continued to live in Pipestone and had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Village in Pipestone. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church; liked to fish, play cards and lived to visit with family and friends. Survivors include a sister, Ella Wiens, Duluth and a brother, Walter Quade, Jeffers; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and seven sisters.5
