  • ObituaryText: Henry G. Karow, 78, died at his home at 422 West Central Street on Wednesday afernoon at one thirty. A week previous to his demise he suffered a stroke. Although he always appeard to be in good health before suffering the stroke, he was never very well. The deceased was born on August 14, 1864 in the northern part of Germany. When he was seven years old he came to this country with his mother, two sisters and a brother. Their father and other members of the family had come to America before. The family lived near New Ulm where hey had a brickyard. Later they farmed. On July 11, 1893, the deceased was married to Emma Nickel in Red Rock. After their marriage they farmed in Sundown, five miles north of this city. After living in Sundown for five years, the family moved to Red Rock where they lived until 1929, when they retired and came to Springfield to make their home. They purchased the J.S. Watson house on West Central Street, where the deceased was living when he died. Besides his wife he leaves six children, namely Fre and Ben Karow and Mrs. Roman Graff (Edna) of the Jeffers community; Harry Karow of Sanborn; Mrs. Herman Block of this city and Miss Elsie Karow, who is at home. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ed Luke, of Dotson. Funeral services will be held at the Karow home at one-thirty on Saturday and later at the Evangelical church with Rev. Wm. H. Buller, pastor, in charge. Pallbearers will be nephews of the deceased; Tony and Emil Schenk, Henry and William Karow and Otto and Rudolph Krueger.1
