  • ObituaryText: Marilyn Joan "JoAnn" "Pip" Sine, 82, of Zanesfield, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.

    She was born in West Liberty on Jan. 2, 1931, to the late Mervin A. and Ruth Anna Troyer Hostetler. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, David "Bud" Hostetler and James P. Hostetler; and a sister–in-law, Marjorie Lovell.

    On March 16, 1956, she married James R. Sine in West Liberty and he survives, along with their daughters, Debra (Robert "Bob") Newland of Bellefontaine, Carol Sue (Steve) Thompson of Zanesfield and Linda (Doug) Marquis of Bellefontaine; her siblings, William "Bill" (Lynn) Hostetler and Evelyn Joy (John C.) Plank, both of West Liberty; five grandchildren, Amanda (Andy) Hart, Erica Marquis, Brad and Megan Thompson and Cody Newland; sisters-in-law, Sue Hostetler and Shirley Hostetler, both of West Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.

    A homemaker, JoAnn was a member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, the Zanesfield United Methodist Women and the Zanesfield American Legion Auxiliary. Known for her butterscotch pie, she enjoyed sewing, creating stained glass and loved spending time with her family and doing things for others. She was truly a giving person.

    Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty. Pastor Gene Phelps officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zanesfield United Methodist Church. Burial follows in the Zanesfield Cemetery.

    He was born in Ridgeway on July 23, 1934, to the late Wilbur W. and Florence Watkins Ramsey.

    On Aug. 12, 1956, he married Donna Mae Leightey in Wyandot County and she preceded him in death Sept. 20, 2002.

    Surviving are four sons, Joseph Wesley (Rebecca) Ramsey and David Franklin (Elizabeth) Ramsey, both of Ridgeway, Michael Eugene (Sharon) Ramsey of Dublin and William Newton (Vickie) Ramsey of Bellefontaine; 13 grandchildren, Monica Marie Humphrey, Joseph Wesley (Laura) Ramsey Jr., Amanda Lynne (Ben) Rudolph, Megan Elizabeth Ramsey, John Michael Ramsey, Eric Newton Ramsey, Gregory Adam Ramsey, Jenny Marie (T.J.) King, Alycia Renay (Bryan) Henson, Chelsey Lyann (Drew) Dixon, Alexander David Ramsey, Jacqueline Elizabeth Ramsey and Madison Lee Wiseman; seven great-grandchildren, Gabriel Humphrey, Lilyanne and Dexter Rudolph, Adelina and Michael Ramsey, Foster King and Ayden Henson; two sisters, Dorothy (Pete) Gross of Phoenix and Elaine Brodbeck of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

    A farmer, he was a member of the American Hampshire Sheep Association, Logan County Farm Bureau, Logan County Sheep Improvement Association and Ohio Pork Producers Council. In 1970, he was recognized as the Columbus Dispatch family farm of the year. In 1981, his family was recognized by the Bellefontaine Examiner as its Logan County Farm Family of the Year.

    A former 4-H adviser, he also held memberships in the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon; the Logan County Electric Cooperative Board of Directors, which he served several years as president; and the Production Credit Association Advisory Committee.

    Pastor Lynn Cleaveland officiates a funeral at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, 170 E. Mill St., Rushsylvania, where visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5. Burial is in Hale Cemetery, Mt. Victory.
