    Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Roger Graf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 697. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a Masonic service at 7 p.m. conducted by Morningside Lodge 615, at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

    Mr. Noble was born May 27, 1919, in Humboldt, Iowa, the son of David A. "Joe" Noble Sr. and Cecile (Crittenden) Noble. They moved to Sioux City in 1920. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1937. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

    He married Virginia Shelton on March 27, 1945. She died in 1984. He later married Eleanor (Lutz) O'Hanlon on June 3, 1989. He worked for Hormel Packing Company in Austin, Minn., and later in Fremont, Neb., as plant supervisor until 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in England, Africa and Italy.

    In 1950 he moved to Goldfield, Iowa, where he farmed for 10 years. He also served on the school board and as a trustee of Goldfield Presbyterian Church. He moved back to Sioux City in 1960, and served as office manager and a partner in the Iowa Stock Pig Company until retiring in 1991.

    He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and Alpha Kappa Psi professional fraternity. He served on the session of Morningside Presbyterian Church for 12 years, belonged to Morningside Lodge 615, Sioux City Consistory, Sioux City York Rite, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, was president of The Clowns, the White Horse Mounted Patrol, The Royal Order of Jesters, the Little Yellow Dog Auction Club and American Legion. He was a 33rd degree Mason, and in February 1997, was honored as a 50-year Mason.

    Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; three sons, David A. Noble III and his wife, Eloise of Sioux City, John O'Hanlon and his wife, Paula of Blair, Neb., and David O'Hanlon of Blair; a daughter and her husband, Judith and Robert Colbert of Athens, Ga; a brother, Alden Noble of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Aimee David, Brett Colbert, Megan May, Megan Coffey and Reed O'Hanlon; and one great-grandchild.

    He also was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Peggy Noble.

    Pallbearers will be Joel Noble, Brett Colbert, David O'Hanlon, John O'Hanlon, Terry Millard, Benjamin Millard and Reed O'Hanlon.

    Memorials may be directed to the Morningside Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Siouxland, or a charity of choice.1
