  • ObituaryText*: Death came suddenly to Miss Ida Cuthbert Saturday evening, after a brief illness, she having succumbed to an attack of pneumonia. She passed away in Lancaster, where she has been residing for the past three years. Her wide circle of acquiantanes in this city were greatly shocked to hear the news, as it was not generally known that she was ill, and no one was prepared for the announcement of her untimely death. The deceased was born in this city, and was about 24 years of age. She graduated from the Columbian high school in 1890 and resided in this city until about three years ago, when she went to Lancaster to accept a position as bookkeeper with a large glass manufacturing firm. She was a young lady of noble character and hig hideals, having been a member of the Presbyterian church and Sunday school in this city. She is survived by her step-mother, Mrs. Lena M. Cuthber, two sisters, Miss Pauline Cuthbert, and mrs. Edson Spitler of California and a brother, James Cuthbert. The funeral services were held Thursday in Lancaster, where the remains will also be interred. Mrs. Spitler left her home in the far west Sunday and arrive din time to attend the funeral.3

    He was born July 11, 1980, in Liberal.
    He married Ashlee Schmitzer Aug. 9, 2008, in Liberal. She survives.
    He was a pipeline construction worker for Meco Field Service.
    He was a 1998 graduate of Turpin High School graduating in the top 10 of his class and received academic scholarships. He was on the 1995 and 1997 state winning football team and the state winning golf team in 1998.
    He enjoyed golf, hanging out with his friends and spending time with his family.
    Other survivors include his grandmother, Dolores Swartz, Wessington, S.D; his grandparents, Jerry and Irene Steele, Sterling; his parents, Robert and Kathy Swartz, Turpin; one son, Quinton Swartz, Liberal; two daughters, Genevieve Swartz, Liberal, and Izabella Swartz, Liberal; one brother, Brandon Kissick, Miller, S.D; two sisters, Mikayla Davis, Miller, and Shaney Davis, Miller; and godparents, Mark and Carolyn Stergionis.
    He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Swartz, and one son, Christopher Swartz.
    o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Faith Church with Pastor Dee Estes presiding.
    Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
    Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
    In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the Swartz Children Education Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
